About worldgovdata
worldgovdata is a comparative country-data platform. It gathers indicators from fifteen institutional, keyless sources and harmonizes them onto a single country spine, so you can line up any country against any other on the same footing.
What it is
Governance, economy, health, education, demography, climate, risk and society — each indicator is pulled from its official publisher, mapped to standard ISO country codes, and stored as one value per indicator, country and year. Every chart on the site is built from that harmonized layer, and every value keeps a link back to the source that produced it.
Methodology
- Source selection
- We only use sources that are freely accessible without an API key and published under an open licence — the Creative Commons Attribution family. Sources that restrict reuse are left out, even when the data would be useful.
- Harmonization
- Provider-native codes are mapped onto one country spine and reshaped to a common grain: one row per indicator, country and year. Aggregates and non-country entities are dropped.
- Provenance
- Every chart, ranking and country profile shows a provenance chip naming the source, its licence and when the data was last refreshed. Nothing is presented without attribution.
- Update cadence
- Each source is refreshed on its own schedule — weekly, monthly or quarterly depending on how often the publisher releases new data. The sources page shows the latest run and data year for each one.
Licensing
Data belongs to its publishers and is reused here under each source's licence. When you reuse anything from worldgovdata, carry that attribution through.

Data corrections
Spotted a value that looks wrong, or a source we should carry? Tell us and we will look into it. Note that we mirror what each publisher reports — corrections to the underlying figures have to come from the source — but mapping and display errors are ours to fix.
